Level Two Workshop Intensive: Bezel Setting
Two Session Class
(Original class date was rescheduled due to Covid Closures)
Class meets two Sundays from 12-5pm
Sunday, October 4
Sunday, October 11
Seven Seats Left
Prerequisite: Students must have completed our Metalsmithing Foundation: Level One class or have equivalent experience. Students should have a basic understanding of using a jeweler's saw for sawing and piercing, using hand files, drilling, and have had an introduction to basic silver torch soldering.
This class is designed to build on the foundational metalsmithing skills you have learned in our Level One class and focuses on specific techniques. All students who have completed the Level One class are also qualified to attend our Open Studio Sessions.
Students will be introduced to the fabrication skills required to create custom bezel settings for cabochon stones in this two session class. We will go over the basics of securely setting a cabochon stone and various finishing techniques.
We will each fabricate a simple sterling silver pendant with a bezel setting for an 8mm round cabochon. In addition, students will also create a second project of their own design. We will have stone options available for purchase to use for this project, or students may bring their own cabochon (specifics about this stone will be discussed in the first class).
Students will leave the class with one completed pendant, and a project of their choice. If students choose a more ambitious independent project, they may register and attend an Open Studio Session to complete their work.
Attendence to both classes is required as these classes will be full of technical instruction, demos and practice that cannot be repeated. Please note that we are not able to provide make up classes.
